Week 9

Topic 1      It wasn't that I had to protect anyone, but this instance crossed the line in my opinion. When I was in middle school, probably about 2001 or 2002. I was 11 or 12 years old and it was time for "The Winter Snowball." As I would come to learn playing inappropriate songs at school dances is extremely common...shocking I know. Anyways, along with many other inappropriate songs the one that I distinctly remember playing was Nelly's "It's getting hot in herre." Why here is spelled "herre" is anyone's guess. If you haven't heard this gem of a song then here's a few lyrics for you: ~It's gettin hot in herre (so hot), so take off all your clothes I am - gettin so hot, I wanna take my clothes off~ ~Why you at the bar if you ain't poppin the bottles? (c'mon) What good is all the fame if you ain't fuckin the models~ ~Cause I feel like bustin loose And I feel like touchin you, uh uh And can't nobod

Topic 1     I have heard about the banned book list many times over the years. I also recall one of my teachers in high school having a poster which was a list of either all the banned books or books that had been banned once (I can't quite remember). I always was interested in the banned book list probably because it was something you weren't supposed to be "doing," so all the more reason for me to want to. But I haven't been the biggest reader, I like to read, but it's not often anymore that I pick up a book. I buy too many of them and then they sit. That's sad. Anyways, many of the books on the list I have at least heard of, while most I have not read. I have read The Harry Potter series, two of the Twilight books, Scary Stories (in elementary school). I have only seen the TV versions of Thirteen Reasons Why and when I was about 9 years old Little Bill came out. I never cared much for it.     I am a bit on the fence or undecided when it come

Week 7 Project

I feel Pretty I chose Topic #4 for blog project #2. With the help of my fifteen year old niece we decided on "I feel Pretty." This was actually my second time watching it because I had previously seen it in theaters with my best friend. My best friend was the one who originally told me about the movie and wanted to go and after I saw a few commercials and trailers I was down to see it. It seemed like a movie I could really relate to in multiple ways which I'll touch more on in later sections. Here's a trailer for the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPgdIHV_zMo Some Info & Background "I feel Pretty," was released on April 20th of this year, it is rated PG-13, and it was directed by Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn. It stars Amy Schumer, and it costars Michelle Williams, Busy Phillips, Rory Scovel, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Tom Hopper and more. The production cost of this movie was around $32 million, while the mo

Topic 1     I follow my local towns paper "The Lebanon Express," and I also follow the state paper "The Oregonian" on Facebook and I do follow the somewhat local news stations like "Koin 6." My family and I do not subscribe to a newspaper. I do hear some things through friends, they'll share some thing with me in text, word of mouth, or tag me in a story on Facebook. Obviously I do get a lot of my news and other info from Facebook in some form. I try to fact check as much as I can, there's only so much you can do. Sometimes it's pretty obvious it couldn't be fake because they have live coverage/footage. Other times if I question a story I try to search for it online either to find a trusted source or sources that did report on it, a lot of new sources list their sources which can help. Sometimes I question things and there are just no clear answers to whether its accurate or not which can be frustrating especially if people use it to back
