Topic 1 After seeing the documentary "RiP! A Remix Manifesto," what did you find most interesting/surprising/alarming in the video as it relates to the First Amendment or freedom of expression? Cite an EXAMPLE or two from the documentary, AND relate it to your own experience. What questions or concerns do you have about copyright or limits on creativity? Write about an instance where you think an artist/writer/musician/politician, the media or a group or individuals went too far in exercising their freedom of speech or of the press. Be sure to share your take on the incident. What actions should be taken in response? -There was a lot of different points in this documentary that I wouldn't say shocked me, but I was somewhat surprised by I suppose.  I didn't previously realize how much was controlled and how deeply.  I don't understand why the big companies get to keep the money from the people they sue, yet the artists don't see a dime or didn't e

I chose the most recent Allstate "Mayhem" commercial for my blog project. Allstate Insurance has been using this character for a few years now and I've pretty much always found the commercials to be funny.  Heres a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otoAdAMsjUU The commercial is actually quite short at just roughly 30 seconds long, and it features the actor that always plays "Mayhem," Dean Winters. I have seen him in several things, but what comes to mind is when he was in Law and Order SVU. It opens with a song that ALWAYS (irritatingly) gets stuck in my head, which is "Chapel of Love" by the Dixie Cups. Mayhem is a 4 year old boy who is meant to be the ring bearer, but being Mayhem he swallows the wedding rings and walks down the aisle to then throw the ring pillow at the couple. It premiered this last June and is still playing on TV now. Allstate does to chose to use a somewhat recognizable actor for their commercials so I feel there is

TOPIC 1: TWITTER/FACEBOOK/INSTAGRAM AND ADVERTISING/PR -- Social media has become crucial for companies and organizations in promoting products, services, events and causes. Using Facebook, Twitter or another social media platform (e.g. Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, YouTube), do a search for a particular brand, product, service or cause and DESCRIBE IN DETAIL how the company or organization is using social media. Cite Examples. Second, evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign. Who is the TARGET AUDIENCE (be specific)? Is it working? Tell why or why not. If you were the Product/Brand Manager, what else would you recommend to promote this product, service or cause? Since I use Facebook the most compared to Instagram I decided to use it and looked up Hulu. I use Hulu and Netflix a lot so I figured it was a decent option. The first thing I noticed is their "Cover Photo," which has three of their highest rated or most award winning shows. The Handmaids Tale,

Topic 1 List 3 people/organizations you follow and WHY Well, I have had my Facebook since September of 2007 so I have been "following" some pages for quite a long time on there. I don't know if I actually "follow" them or if I have just liked their pages since Facebook is different from Twitter. I don't use twitter although I do have one that I made quite a few years back to enter a contest and that's it. So on Facebook, 11 years later, with thousands of likes I picked a handful that I see very frequently or seek out myself: New York Times, John Oliver, MSNBC, CNN, Elizabeth Warren, Jeff Merkley, etc. I know that's more than 3, but why not? On Instagram I don't follow as many news sources etc, but I do follow: "Everytown." I follow these groups, people, and organizations because I like to try to get factual, accurate, informed, timely, and sensitive information about current events and other such news. (I was unsure if you wante
